 Project Outline

Project Goal:  To understand that Scientific Research in multiple fields has functions that can be represented by an associated power series, such as a Taylor Polynomial, over an interval of convergence.

Project Overview: Choose a research article to read and evaluate.  From your understnding of the research article, briefly present an explanation about the nature of the research and how the Taylor Series was used within the research.  Your presentation may come in your choice of media such as a movie, online poster, online magazine, podcast, essay, free-style drawing, etc.  During and after the process of creating the presentation, you will be asked to peer-review several of your classmates’ work.  Afterwards, you will write a brief reflection about your work, engaging with research, mathematics, and working with your peers.

Shared Document: The document contains links to the research article, a place for students to choose their research and a place for students to load their completed projects.

Project Directions: The directions include the objective and expectations for the project, a timeline for the project, the teacher’s grading rubric, and the student’s grading rubric.

AP Style Assessment

AP Style Assessment

The format of the AP exam includes multiple-choice questions and free response questions; about 1/3 of the exam allows for the use of a calculator or any technology.

The Taylor and Maclaurin Series Assessment was created to reflect similar content questions from the AP exam.  Two of the questions are from from Exams that the College Board has posted on their website.  Multiple practice tests and released questions were combed and altered to create a test to best prepare the students for their AP Experience.

Content about the Taylor and Maclaurin Series is tested using numerical, analytical, and graphical interpretations to allow for students to represent their knowledge in diverse formats as suggest within UDL (Meyer & Rose, 2005).
